End Stage Renal Disease and Hemodialysis

Developing kidney disease such as end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requires that you make some decisions about your course of treatment. Ask your nephrologist about treatment options at LAIIC, and we will evaluate your condition and provide you with the best care available.

Depending on your condition, your treatment options may include dialysis and/or kidney transplantation. We perform dialysis access and arteriovenous fistula maintenance procedures, including hemodialysis catheter insertion, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertions, arteriovenous fistula angioplasty and clot removal as well as minimally invasive fistula creation.

Tests & Treatments

Kidney Dialysis

If you have been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, are recovering from a kidney transplant or experiencing liver failure, you will receive expert care from our multidisciplinary team of nephrologists, nurses, dieticians and social workers.

Kidney Transplant

Kidney transplants are performed when your kidney failure is so advanced that it cannot be reversed with dialysis.

END STAGE RENAL DISEASE AND HEMODIALYSIS

Kidney, Ureter & Bladder X-ray

A kidney, ureter and bladder X-ray is performed to diagnose the cause of abdominal pain, such as masses, perforations or obstructions.

Nephrectomy

If you are diagnosed with a tumor of the kidney or another condition that prevents the kidney from functioning properly, a nephrectomy may be required.

Nuclear Medicine Scan

Nuclear scans show how the heart and many other organs are functioning, and whether there may be tumors or other abnormalities located in various parts of the body.

Pancreas Transplant

If you have Type 1 diabetes and are experiencing major complications from this disease, you may be a candidate for a pancreas transplant.

PleurX Drainage System

Drain fluid from your abdomen or chest at home and on your own schedule — so you can manage fluid buildup before it becomes too uncomfortable.
